“Goodbye” is a song that was written early on when The Vespertine Orchestra was just forming.  We are not sure why it didn’t get recorded sooner and included in Little Circles. 

From Arlene Francis Center in Santa Rosa on April 27th, 2012.  Ian Riggle on bass and Ryan Commisky on drums.  We are definitely showing another side of our music.  It is still about having an open mind and keeping the Open Platform idea going.

The Vespertine Orchestra has an upcoming show at Unity Music/Camp F.A.M.E in Santa Rosa, CA on November 10th.  Show will start at 8PM, and is an all ages show.  Unity Music Center is located at 840 Piner Road, Santa Rosa.  Hope to see you all there!

We will be having our CD Release Show at Arlene Francis Center on September 9, 2011 at 8pm. This will be our OFFICIAL CD release of Little Circles, of which is now available on iTunes, Amazon, and other places online.  We will have special guest musicians joining the fun as we perform music our of CD.

Yes, we were on KSRO 1350AM on Tuesday morning, July 19th.  Nothing like getting up in the morning to play music.  Truth be told, both of us have Sunday morning music gigs, so playing at the hour isn’t entirely unknown to the both of us.  The only difference would have to be the thought of the unseen audience listening to us.  It is our third or fourth time playing live on the air.  It is a lot of fun.  There is nothing like it because of the small studio booth that is a gateway to a larger universe.  The performance marked the debut of the “chicken” piano.  The “chicken” piano is a toy piano that Sadie found at Trading Musician, a great local music shop right next to Cafe Racer in Seattle WA.  Anyway, enjoy the music!

The gigs in Seattle were just phenomenally great.  It was definitely worth the time and effort to find the gigs. The first gig was at Big Al’s Brewing which in the White Center part of Seattle.  The gig was part of a Seattle cooking club of which Sadie’s friend was part of.  We played our entire set, including some of Sadie’s solo music from back in the day for her old friends.  It was unfortunate the rain didn’t allow us to set up outside, but from all the rumors that have been said about Seattle, YES it is true that it does rain a lot.  And that it is overcast most of the time.  We were fortunate to be treated to some great grilled food the club was making.  The Boreks, or Turkish meat pies, were unbelievable tasty.  In fact, everything they had on the tables was simply amazing.  Thanks to Jennifer for everything.

The Cafe Racer gig was just the gig to end the entire tour.  We must have played for about two hours, including some improv and a new song we are working on.  Our equipment surprising worked great considering how much of it is electronic.  That is always a constant fear that Murphy’s Law will kick when least expect it.  Since most of our material does rely on a laptop generating sounds, it makes one wonder if the gremlins inside the computer are going to decide this is the time to stop working.   That is why we are always prepared to go “acoustic” if something does awry with the electronics.  All in all, the gear held up really well. There were no surprises.  If anything, the biggest variable was mainly dealing with the sound in the different venues.  That is always a surprise how our sound can change from venue.
